Cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most frequently methods of treatments used by Western psychologists.

In short, CBT is primarily focused on individual perception on things and events. According to this type of therapy, one’s personal experience is more related to one’s personal interpretation of the things that happened to him/her than the situation itself. So helping the individual understand his/her own perceptions and views on life events can help him/her overcome the stressful or sometimes traumatic situation that caused various mental issues to appear.

The main goal of CBT is to help individuals reshape their way of thinking and interpreting events in a more positive, realistic and pragmatic way, so that they can go on with their lives and benefit from what they have instead of focusing on what is lost, looking into CBT for depression can help immensely.

Another important goal of this form of therapy is to help people develop better quality relationships, and to socialize more effectively, while also enjoying social interaction.

Overcoming any form of depression, anxiety and trauma can be another major goal for CBT. At any rate, the exact goals can vary from situation to situation, as each person is unique and therefore the therapist needs to be able to tailor such goals during the first therapy sessions.
